How do you know if your web site is good
for your
business?
By first answering the question: "Why do you have a web site?" Knowing why you have a web site in the first
place will
go a
long way towards helping you decide what kind of
web
site you
need, or whether or not the web site you
already have
is good
for your business.
Is Your Web Site Good for Your Business?

In our last issue, Candace wrote about "Using
Social Media for Business". I'm going to
tackle Social Media, and more specifically
Facebook, from a different perspective.
If you are like me, and already have a
Facebook account and frequently use it for
networking purposes, creating a "Page" for
your business should take you no time at all.
In terms of free (or relatively inexpensive)
marketing, you can't beat Facebook.
I have a network of over 200 people. Yes
they are my "friends" on Facebook, some are
personal friends, others are business
connections. At times if I am in a bind
(i.e. need a seamstress urgently) I've posted
this as my status update and within minutes I
have 6 or 7 suggestions with phone numbers.
Even if my "friends" don't know someone,
they have their own list of "friends" who
might. And so on and so on.
To create a "Page" on Facebook does not take
long and it's free with your account. You
invite everyone on your network to become
"Fans" of your "Page" and then you ask them
to ask their networks. The key is to
generate as many "Fans" as possible. Then
you can use the status update feature to
promote your business, offer tips, advertise
events/coupons/contests, etc. Having your
"Fans" comment on or like your status update,
allows your update to be featured in
different peoples home page feeds. It's a
great way
to stay in people's minds.
In terms of Relationship Marketing, this is
the perfect way to stay in touch with your
ongoing or long term clients/customers
provided they are on Facebook of course. You
can offer them special discounts or invite
them to exclusive events.
If you have money to spend, you can create a
"Facebook Ad" which will show up on friends
of your friends' home pages, displaying your
business name and logo and saying "Your
Friend (name) is a fan, become a fan" and a
neat little button that links to your page
immediately.
The idea is to gather as many fans as
possible, 1,000+ is a good target to start
with, and build from there.
While we're on the topic, become a fan of
Back2Front on Facebook!!
